Grease
2008 |
How do you measure your
success in winning this award?
Success to me is letting go
of all fear. Success is also being happy for other people's
success. You can't succeed in theatre, or anything for that
matter, without realizing that it is a team effort.
What advice would you give others on how they can put together their
vision and make a difference?
Don't be afraid and just go
for it! Don't worry about all the bad things that could go wrong, just
focus on the positive. Take risks!
What was your greatest success and challenge during the run of High
School Musical since the first day at registration until the final show?
I think my
greatest challenge during Grease was also my greatest success. It
was just to let go and try new things to make the character my own, and
to have my own twist on the character.
What role does faith play in getting the part and this award?
If you don't think
you can succeed, chances are you won't. You just have to believe
in yourself and know that you're the only person who can truly be in
your way. If you believe in yourself, you can also inspire others
to believe in themselves.
What is your overall
mission in musical theatre?
My mission in musical
theatre is to just make sure people have a good time when they see a
show. Our job as actors is to take people away for a few hours and
to invest in our story and characters. If I can make at least one
person take something away after seeing the show, then my job is done.
Even if it's just making one person laugh.
Describe the early days of your acting before it grew to such
prominence.
I started to act when I was
nine years old. My first show was Grease, actually. I was
very shy and always nervous and worried about messing up. After
doing a few shows, I finally realized that I shouldn't worry so much,
and just have fun.
What is next
on your agenda?
I'm going to do Seussical,
and I'm very excited for that! Theatre, film making, and junior
year is pretty much filling up my time.
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to go to
film school and be be a film editor or screenwriter. I also want
to travel alot.
Any advice you would give to someone wanting to be an actor or
actress.
Just take risks and try
something new! Don't worry about looking weird or doing something
wrong, and just be yourself. However, the most important thing, in
my opinion, is to laugh when things go wrong. It's good to make
mistakes, and you can only learn from them.

How do you measure your
success in winning this award?
I've always wanted to win
this award. Since my first show, I have secretly wished to win
this award. I think I won the Actors Achievement Award because I
put a lot of time and effort into making myself a great Annie.
What advice would you give others on how they can put together their
vision and make a difference?
I would tell someone you
have to want it in order to have it. It is a lot of work to start
a play or show. I'd also tell them to practice every time they
have a chance.
What was your greatest success and challenge during the run of High
School Musical since the first day at registration until the final show?
My greatest
challenge was on test day, when you have to show that you know all your
lines. I was really nervous. My greatest success was when I
won the award. My best memory of the show was when I was able to
act on stage as Annie with my Papa as Drake and my sister as Molly!
What role does faith play in getting the part and this award?
It plays a big
role. If God hadn't given me the power to believe in myself, I
would not be close to winning this award.
What is your overall
mission in musical theatre?
My mission is to get on
Broadway. That would be wonderful. I would also like to open
a theatre arts studio. It would be fantastic to teach others my
favorite hobby.
Describe the early days of your acting before it grew to such
prominence.
My first show was Annie,
when I was six years old! I got the role as Kate. I was
really lucky because I had Alan as my director. I've loved doing
shows ever since.
What is next
on your agenda?
I would be grateful to keep
doing this, but to be more specific, I want to be Peter Pan!
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to start
up an arts center to open others to the world of drama.
Any advice you would give to someone wanting to be an actor or
actress.
I'd tell them to have faith
in themselves and to practice everyday. And to have a lot of
FUN!!!!

How do you measure your
success in winning this award?
I measure my success by how
much I have grown as a performer and person. I also measure it by
how I establish connections with the people in the cast which helped not
just myself but the cast members to achieve their goals and put on a
great production.
What advice would you give others on how they can put together their
vision and make a difference?
I would say know that you
can do it and strive for what you want. Also, setting a goal can
help you get to where you want to go.
What was your greatest success and challenge during the run of High
School Musical since the first day at registration until the final show?
My greatest
challenge in the show was trying to be the best Dorothy I could be and
having good chemistry with the other characters I interact with.
My greatest success would probably have to be pulling off a show when
being sick and not giving up; providing I wouldn't give up a dream.
What role does faith play in getting the part and this award?
Faith plays a HUGE
role in receiving this award and part. Without faith or believing
in yourself, you wouldn't succeed and you wont grow in anything you do.
What is your overall
mission in musical theatre?
My overall mission is to
continue to do theatre and hopefully move to Broadway or do movies,
television, etc. But I'd like to become the best performer I could
be.
Describe the early days of your acting before it grew to such
prominence.
Well, my early days of
acting were back when I was two. My first show, Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, I don't remember it all that much,
besides being the black sheep, some people from the show, the theatre
group, and the thrill of being on stage. But since that show, I
fell in love with performing. I've done numerous amount of shows
and the list just keeps growing. But with all this experience in
theatre, it's helped me grow and it's gotten me to where I am today.
What is next
on your agenda?
Hopefully get an agent soon!
But I'd like to do well in school and continue to perform until my next
big step comes along.
What are your future goals?
Definitely move my way up to
Los Angeles and go to auditions and hopefully do some big named work out
there and to make it big. To pursue my goals and dreams, like my
brother, Adam!
Any advice you would give to someone wanting to be an actor or
actress.
Don't give up on your
dreams. Just keep trying because it make take sometime until you
get a yes. You'll have to collect your no's - remember - "you have
to be the best in your craft to make it here."

a mother . . . I think that was almost my biggest success because I
managed to pull it off.
What role does faith play in getting the part and this award?

TYLER LENHART |
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL |
|

|

Tyler Lenhart
as Troy Bolton
High School Musical
Senior Cast
2007
|
How do you measure your
success in winning this award?
I measure my success in how
much I grew as an actor and person. I also measure it in how I
established connections with people and how all of the connections I
made came together and helped not only myself, but everyone else in the
production achieve their goals.
What advice would you give others on how they can put together their
vision and make a difference?
I would tell them that you
need to set a realistic goal and you have to maintain a vision that is
obtainable; Set a goal that you want to achieve.
What was your greatest success and challenge during the run of High
School Musical since the first day at registration until the final show?
My greatest
challenge during the production was just wondering, "Is this show going
to be good? Will everyone come together in the end and make this
show a success?" It was definitely the fear of the unknown.
My greatest success was getting on that stage, and feeling all my nerves
just go away -- not caring what other people think about me helped a
lot.
What role does faith play in getting the part and this award?
Faith plays a huge
role in receiving this part and the award because if you don't have
faith in yourself, you won't grow and succeed in anything you do.
What is your overall
mission in musical theatre?
My overall mission is not
necessarily to get famous, but to have fun and help others along the
way.
Describe the early days of your acting before it grew to such
prominence.
Early days, wow. I
used to be very shy before I started acting, but after I started it, it
allowed me to break out of myself and I made so many new friends, who
all helped me get where I am today.
What is next
on your agenda?
Well, I hope to help out
with Cinderella, but I will be auditioning for Guys and Dolls in March.
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to get
accepted into New York University or Juilliard Performing Arts School,
make varsity Cross Country next season, and get nominated for the Inland
Theatre League Award for one of my future performances.
Any advice you would give to someone wanting to be an actor or
actress.
If you are considering
getting into acting, remember that it's not all fun and games: You
have to memorize lines, dancing, blocking, and you also have to become
the role (at least if you want to succeed). But it is also tons of
fun and you will love it! |

MADISON LIGTERMOET |
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL |
|

 |

Madison Ligtermoet
as Sharpay
High School Musical
Junior Cast
2007 |
How do
you measure your success in winning this award?
Winning this award proves
to me that you can do anything you set your mind to no matter your age
or size!
What advice would you give others on how they can put together their
vision and make a difference?
Always believe in yourself
and your dreams. Be kind and considerate at all times. Remain focused on
your goals and remember if you do your best you're always a winner.
What was your greatest success and challenge during the run of High
School Musical since the first day at registration until the final show?
My greatest
success in the role of Sharpay was becoming one with my charter. I
really felt a live when I performed on stage.
My greatest
challenge was not letting my role of Sharpay blend into my everyday life
as Madison, "you know why do you think Prada makes all that fabulous
apris ski wear LOSER?" Opps there I go again sometimes it's hard to get
out of character mode.
What role does faith play in getting the part and this award?
I think you should
always believe in yourself and your ability's I really wanted to have
the part of Sharpay and I knew that if I believed in myself as an
Actress and had faith in my abilities that God would help me along the
path. I am happy it was the path to Sharpay, Broadway Starz, and the
achievement Award.
What is your overall
mission in musical theatre?
To grow a little taller and
play the part of Cinderlla. To enjoy and have fun with every production
I am in and to become the best performer I can possibly be.
Describe the early days of your acting before it grew to such
prominence.
Way back when I was four I
was in my first play "Big River" I LOVED IT. I had so much fun being
part of the cast and new I wanted to do as many plays as possible. I
signed up for "Annie" and had my first big role as "Molly" I was so
excited to have the part but I fumbled some lines and turned my back to
the stage a lot. From that show I tried to stay focused and work on
myself as an actress. My goal was to have a lead part and someday play
the part of "Annie", "Belle", or "Alice". When I heard Broadway Starz
was doing High School Musical I just had to audition and I hoped I would
be cast as Sharpay or Gabriella. I was more then excited when I had the
chance to be Sharpay. I could not wait to show what I could do, plus I
was 8 now and I new I could do it. From my first play four years ago I
would tell my Mom before every cast party "I Hope I win the achievement
Award." This time I did, I cried when I found out. Thank You!
What is next
on your agenda?
Talking my Mom into getting
me an agent so I can pursue my acting dream,& Performing in Vocal and
Dance competitions.
What are your future goals?
To hit my high note, to have
my own TV show, become a movie star and if there is still time a pop
star too.
Any advice you would give to someone wanting to be an actor or
actress.
Always be yourself, show
your true personality, don't be shy they won't bite. |
